As the weather warmed up David  (from Lea Crest) had a joint English /French barbeque for boaters & friends. Despite poor weather all week he held his nerve, the sun shone & a good time was had by all.
The next social event was a boules challenge which on the somewhat uneven & bumpy pitch was as much luck as skill.. Not sure which team won but we voted it a great way to spend a sunny afternoon
Paul even managed a sail in the little boat - the hardest part was getting out of the moorings.
One of the first boats to break out for the summer was Avesol after joining Paul on the front for some spring cleaning & painting (note Paul's 'muffin')
Our plan now was to travel along the Doubs to Besancon taking a bit longer than last time & getting to stay at a few different places. Along the way we were serenaded by the frogs - when they croaked they blew big bubbles either side of their heads!
On our return from ski-ing we got the bad news of Val's brothers illness so we did a quick trip to England to see Alan. As he was feeling a bit better by the time we arrived we had an enjoyable week watching him umpire indoor hockey matches & even joined him at the hockey club's annual dinner dance. Bought ourselves a new camera so photo quality should improve!
The dragonfly got trapped inside giving me a good opportunity to try out the macro setting on the new camera
while it was much easier to get close up shots of the ducklings with the zoom lens
The water was so calm it made perfect reflections of the trees & clouds
